This small village in Cumbria sits right next to the River Eden, and it's a lovely place to visit. Walking in the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines can be done from Langwathby, which is located just west of Lake Windermere. Located in the middle of the village is the Shepherd's Inn, a traditional pub that has served the community for generations. In addition, there is a general store and post office, as well as a village hall and St Peter's Church, which was built in 1718 but contains medieval-era elements inside. Its Carlisle-to-Settle Railway station, now home to the Brief Encounter Café, provides excellent connections to nearby towns and cities as well as breathtaking views of England's remote and scenic regions.
