Plein Soleil is very sunny and has amazing views of the mountains and ski runs. High ceilings and tall windows give the house lots of light. It's been recently renovated so the kitchen, appliances, beds, mattresses, linen are of excellent quality. The house has a large terrace and an established garden with many trees. Our kids love the garden and play there with sledges, build snowmen and igloos.
The house is conveniently located near the old town centre and shopping centre but, equiped with the double glazing windows, it is very quiet.
The garage is located next to the ski storage area allowing an easy transition to the house. There is also parking on the street right in front of the house.
The chalet is equipped with many large cast iron radiators and there is a wood stove in the living room creating a warm and cozy atmosphere in winter.
Plein Soeil is 5 minutes drive away from the Prorel/Briancon and 15 min drive away from Chantemerle ski lifts. Many other ski resorts are a short drive away and not far is the mythic La Grave (1h).
There are 3 toilets and 1 one bathroom. The toilet upstairs features a shower. There are a total of two showers and one bathtub (which can also be used for showers). 3 people can have a shower simultaneously.
An amazing house for a group of friends or a large family. The kitchen and the living areas are connected allowing for cooking in a relaxed group environment. All the bedrooms are very spacious and there is a playroom for children upstairs for when the grownups need a break. There is a very large veranda where you can have meals or just soak in the sun. We have tried to make it easy for two or three families with children to ski together. After a day skiing, you can open the garage door with a remote, park inside, leave skis in the garage, then walk into the ski room where there is a large seating area to remove your boots and leave them to dry on a heating rack. There is a new sauna in the basement (but no shower there).
I'm French and my husband is Portuguese. We live in Australia where our three children were born. We use this beautiful house for our holidays and to catch up with family and friends. When we are back in Australia we rent it out and it's our friend Gaelle who looks after our guests. It's an amazing house for a group of friends or a large family. The region has so much to offer: 250km of ski runs in Serre Chevalier ski domain at our door step but countless other ski resorts only a very short drive away (like la Grave/Meije/Deux Alps and Montgenevre). There is just so much to do all year round, hiking, climbing, cycling, pargliding, restaurants and food sampling in farms or at the local streetmarket which sports both French and Italian stalls. The Italian frontier is only 15 minutes away. Turin is about 2h drive away. Milan is about 3.5h drive away. Lyon is 4h drive away. Grenoble is 1h30 min away. The old town centre of Briancon (5-10min drive) is classified as UNESCO heritage and definitely worth a visit. Switzerland is around 5h away.
Close to the house there is a large supermarket and an amazing bakery. You can walk there in summer but not when the streets are snowed in as the snowplows push the snow to the footpath
