I have lived in Normandy since 2008 with my husband David.
I love working in my garden and orchard, and looking for bargains at the local Vide Greniers. As a hobby during the winter I make small stained glass panels.
In the old part of Gavray, La Planche, with houses and cottages which housed in years past artisans working in the local tanning industry.
Following the Berence valley, you can walk in a few minutes to the woods, where there are many walking trails. There are lovely cycling routes to follow.
The ruins of the medieval Chateau are a short steep climb away and from there are panoramic views of the town and surroundings.
Turning left from the house, the bridge crossing the river Sienne is a minute's walk away and over the bridge the town can be explored on foot. There are three boulangeries, three banks, a butcher's, newsagents, several restaurants, a large and small supermarket, brocantes... in fact everything you could need in a small town.
In mid-October each year is the Foire St-Luc, an agricultural and country fair whose origins go back to medieval times. You can walk there from the house in 20 minutes.
