Come and escape to Chat Noir - Perfect for cat-loving couples (four furry friends in residence). We offer chambre d’hôtes rooms, tastefully decorated in shabby chic French style with exposed stone walls, timber beams and elegant French beds. The original farmer’s cottage has been transformed into a charming one bedroom gite with exposed beams, modern equipped kitchen, bathroom and patio BBQ. Take a dip in the shared pool, soak in the hot tub or find a quiet corner of the garden to lose yourself in the peaceful tranquility of the valley below. Not suitable for children.

We are Chris and Michelle and like many others we used to dream about someday moving to France and perhaps opening a Chambre d'hotes and Gite similar to the ones we had stayed in during our annual holidays. That dream became a reality in 2014, ten years ahead of schedule when we were able to find and buy our dream house. After a year of restoration we now share our home with our new family of 4 cats. We are looking forward to sharing our piece of paradise in France with guests to our Gite and Chambre d'hotes.

We are located between Civray and Ruffec, within easy access to the N10, approximately 5 hours drive from the channel ports. Ideal for an overnight stop for those heading to the south of France or Spain or indulge in a longer stay and explore the fabulous Poitou-Charentes, a region with its own micro-climate and has some of the sunniest weather in France, second only to the French Riviera. We have some of the best known attractions and sites in France, such as Futuroscope, La Rochelle, Saintes and Bordeaux. Even closer are the beautiful ancient villages of Nanteuil, Verteuil and the Vallee des Singes (Monkey Valley) is a must!
