Welcome to Sainte-Alvère, a charming and peaceful village in the Dordogne department. It is a place that has captured our hearts, with its serene atmosphere and rural beauty. We hope our guests will enjoy this beautiful region as much as we do, and we look forward to welcoming you.
Our house, which likely dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century, exudes a rich history and character. We have renovated it with great care and attention to detail, preserving its original charm while adding modern comforts. Part of the house has been transformed into a charming guesthouse. Situated in a peaceful setting, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the French countryside.
Sainte-Alvère is a village with a rich history. The 13th-century Château de Lostanges was once one of the most beautiful residences in the Périgord. Unfortunately, the castle was destroyed by fire in the 18th century, leaving only the tower, which remains an important monument in the village. A little further on stands another landmark: the Saint-Pierre-es-liens church, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Sainte-Alvère is best known for its truffle market, held every Monday morning (alongside the regular market) from late November to late February. Although it is a small village, Sainte-Alvère offers a surprising number of amenities. There are three restaurants, two bakeries, a supermarket, a post office, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, an ATM, a garage, a gas station, a Bar Tabac, a coffee shop, a tourist office, and a tea salon.
The surrounding area offers a wide variety of activities for nature lovers, culture enthusiasts, and food lovers.
