Stay in the heart of the stunning mountains of the La Alpujarra region in southern Spain!
Here at Vista de Valor, we welcome you to Casa Astrid, your peaceful escape in a modern-built, off-grid cortijo with your private pool, free Wi-Fi, and private parking. Here, comfort meets nature – Casa Astrid is perfect for unwinding and exploring. Relax by the pool, hike mountain trails, or take in the exceptional views of the village and surrounding mountains.
Being surrounded by nature is part of the charm of this rural mountain setting, so you may encounter small wildlife and insects outdoors, which are a natural part of the environment and beyond our control. For your comfort inside, all windows are equipped with insect screens. There will most likely be small geckos inside – they are harmless and eat bugs, so we encourage guests to leave them alone. You may also hear birdsong and cicadas, or dogs barking in the village.
This is an eco-friendly escape, powered by solar panels and equipped with running water from the mountains. The water, therefore, is not potable, but is fit for showering, washing, and brushing teeth. Upon arrival, we provide you with a few large bottles of potable water and recommend for you to refill them in the village’s potable water fountains – or alternatively buy your own in any store. We are also connected to the mains electricity as a backup. We have mains heating, and will have air conditioning from May 2026 onwards.
Casa Astrid comfortably sleeps 4 guests, offering:
- Bedroom 1: one double bed.
- Bedroom 2: two single beds.
- Living room with an optional sofa bed, log fire & Smart TV.
- Fully equipped kitchen with a fridge-freezer, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, and washing machine.
- 1 Bathroom with shower, sink, toilet, & bidet.
- All windows are fitted with insect screens.
- Private swimming pool, sun loungers and parasols, and a shaded terrace with stunning 360° views of the surrounding mountains.
- Free Wi-Fi & private parking.

Located next to the traditional, white-washed village of Válor, Casa Astrid is nestled among olive groves and surrounded by rolling hills with panoramic mountain views. It is only a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the village, where you’ll find a small supermarket, local restaurants, and the starting points for hiking trails. It’s also perfectly positioned for day trips to the Sierra Nevada National Park, the historic city of Granada, or the beaches on the Mediterranean coast - all within comfortable driving distance for a day trip. There is lots of information available in the house on a wide array of local activities.
You can use Google Maps for directions. Make your way down the steep concrete road followed by a dirt road accessible with any regular car if you drive slowly and carefully (high clearance makes it easier). If you're not used to driving in the mountains or on dirt roads we recommend to meet you in the village to show you the way to get used to the terrain. Please read the instructions we send to you on the day before your arrival carefully to make your journey as smoothly as possible.
We kindly ask guests to be mindful of water usage, especially during the dry summer months, to help preserve this unique natural environment. Log fires or barbecues are prohibited during the summer months. More details can be found in the welcome brochure upon arrival.
! Please note: The annual ‘Moros y Cristianos’ festival takes place from September 12th to 15th, featuring loud fireworks, music, and celebrations. If you're sensitive to noise, we recommend avoiding booking during this period. While the area is quiet and peaceful most of the time, occasional weekend festivities may include music and late-night celebrations. These are part of the local culture and guests are welcome to enjoy them - but please be aware that the noise levels during these events are beyond our control.
