WELCOME TO THE ROCK HOUSE
This is the story of an old stone-built house of about 150 years old!
Dear friends, sit in the garden under the olive tree, or sit in the house near the stove, and read.
Once upon a time there was a beautiful village built on a huge rock! In the centre of this village called Eptagonia, (in Greek means 7 corners epta (seven) gonia (corner) there was a small house consisting of two rooms. In one of them was living the family. In the other, the stable were kept the animals like donkeys, cows, and goats. Every villager used to have also in his yard, chickens, rabbits, and a pig. Rocks were, and are, everywhere! Small and big stones called sideritis (siderite) (strong like iron sidiro means iron) can be found in the soil. In The Rock House built on a rock, used to live one man called Aloupos (alepou means fox). They say… he liked to have a bath in the Summer in his yard, in a ceramic pot with a small hole. The pot is still there! Aloupos and his wife had nine children. An old almond tree was blossoming in the Spring. Once upon a time, in Eptagonia used to live a dragon!
This is another story but its true! One man 93 years old one day at the coffee shop told me about this legend and I wrote a tale, Η Κουννού.The dragon used to live on the top of a mountain, still now called: Akoni, meaning an object to make the knife sharper) Kounnou was passing time sharpening her teeth, on that rock < Akoni > I will not tell you the whole story. The dragon used to come to the village, steal babies, and the water! She was the fear for the villagers, running terrified to be saved. Eptagonia has been an agriculture village since then! One boy, called Tooulis who lived there with his family helping his mother and father in the fields, managed to beat and send away the dragon!
Enjoy The Rock House, the village and surroundings, views, and watching the birds.
Don’t miss sunset from the terrace, you will see the owl coming!
