Loco Cottage provides the essentials for your overnight or longer stay. Loco Cottage is named in honour of the 1924 Wee Georgie Wood steam locomotive running past the cabin on 2ft gauge railway. Once the life blood of the region for transportation, supplies and connection with the outside world, the steam engine now runs past on scheduled weekends and holidays, taking you back to a bygone era. Tullah is steeped in mining history with surrounding mountains rich in with rock containing lead and silver which sparked a mining boom in the 1800's. Tullah is also endowed with natural beauty, the 'takayna Tarkine' wilderness area being the jewel in the crown of the region.

I believe long term industries including tourism, which nurture this unique environment should be cherished. Traditional industries including mining and forestry are essential but need to adapt to modern sustainable practices which preserve the west coasts natural assets. We cannot forget nor degrade the value of the natural environment. The takayna Tarkine wilderness area exemplifies this natural asset. It inherently maintains biodiversity, clean air and water, while helping to mitigate climate change and harbours as yet undiscovered pharmaceuticals. takayna Tarkine provides a wealth of opportunity for tourism and sporting pursuits supporting long term sustainable employment. It is these things for which we are guardians for future generations.
I cherish time with my family, children, and friends.
Recreational pursuits include paddle boarding, kayaking, bush walking, trail running, politics, vegetable gardening and bush regeneration and of course eating out and catching up with friends.
I am committed to living sustainably. Including how and where I source food, manufactured products, transport, housing, and energy choices.

Gaze up to the rocky outcrops of Mt Farrell to the East.
Walk a short distance down Ardyn st to Lake Rosebery; Look up to the summit of Mt Murchison, immerse yourself at the lakes edge . Admire the Beech, Myrtle and Eucalypt forest or the flowers of the Trigger plant or Flax Lilly. Look out for fish, Platypus, Echidnas, Wallabies and bird life.
The 1924 Wee Georgie Wood steam engine will be running past Tullah TrackSide on scheduled weekends, taking you back to a bygone era.
Don't forget out and explore more of the Tarkine takayna region on Tullah's doorstep!
My highlights include:
- Probably the best rainforest walk in the area would be to visit the Bob Brown Foundation camp in takayna/Tarkine 20 or so kms west from Tullah on the Granville Harbour road. Contact BBF for further details.
- Mt Farrell walking track starting opposite Wee Georgie Wood steam train station (a steam train ride while short is also worth the effort especially for kids)
- Lake Sandra walk behind Mt Murchison
- Montezuma falls walk south of Rosebery
- Swimming / fishing / kayaking on lake Rosebery
- Mountain bike riding in and around Tullah (including Stirling track which commences just south of Tullah winding its way to Rosebery) or on the purpose built tracks only a short bike ride from Zeehan township
- West Coast Heritage Centre / Museum at Zeehan
