Hilary was born in London, Jim in South Africa, hence the Cape Dutch style house. We met in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe (where we both grew up) followed by 15 years in South Africa before emigrating to Australia with 4 daughters. We have traveled extensively, and love meeting other travelers.

Aarn House was first opened in 1998 in a different house, closed in 2007, and re-opened in April 2016. We are 2km from the T3/4 Qantas terminal, but 10km from the T1/2 International, Virgin and other airline terminal on the far side of the landing strip. Despite the proximity, the house is quiet as we are not under the flight path. We are 1 km from the Maui Britz camp van depot. Several buses pass us making access further afield easy. Note food outlets are limited to fast food unless you have a vehicle, or order delivery. We installed solar power in Oct 2017 which provides 75% of our usage in summer, 30% in winter. We know a fair bit about WA touring (and elsewhere).

Tudnivalók a környékről

We are situated between Swan Valley and the CBD, on a major bus-route, 2 km from several small airlines (eg Skippers) and the Qantas Terminal 3/4, 10km from the International/Virgin Terminal T1/2, 6 km from Burswood Casino, 8 km from the new Stadium, and 10 km from the CBD, Concert Hall, and Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. We do not pick up from the airport terminals but will usually take guests back to either T3/4 or the nearby Redcliffe station, from where the train or a free bus connect T3/4 to the International Terminal 1. (The train also connects to the city). A fuel station/Gloria Jeans adjacent to us has limited supplies. Hungry Jacks & the Redcliffe pub (1km) are the nearest places for dinner, but the pub is regarded as a little 'rough'! A frequent bus to the city will take guests 2km to Mac Donalds and several restaurants. Excellent restaurants are 3.6km away in Guildford in the opposite direction but the bus is infrequent. Or guests can order pizza, or Uber-eats.
