The Cottage is a perfect place to relax with the family and there's plenty of room for everyone, and you have a view of the bay. We have Kayaks and a mooring if you bring your boat. We also have some bikes for all ages! It's just a short walk to the bay beach and there other beaches that you can go to that are not too far away. There are plenty of walking trails, and we can also provide some information to help you with self guided Bay of Fires walking trails. If you like to be a bit off the grid this is the place to be, we call it Paradise. There's no street lights so you will see some amazing sunrises and sunsets and why not open a wine and sit on the verandah and check out the stars, they are amazing when you don't have street lights! In winter sit by the fire while reading that favourite book, we have a library as well as a Community Library. Or why not have a game of cards or monopoly and theirs jigsaws as well! There's just plenty to do for everyone and you'll need a few days to do it all. What a family holiday it will be!
Some of the roads in are bitumen and gravel - takes around 25 min from Gladstone and around 40 min from St Helens, but it is worth It!
I'm now retired at the Bay and can offer guests a wealth of local knowledge as I've been coming to the bay for over 60 years. As a host I love to meet people and will do my best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
I love the simple things in life, like eating beautiful fresh seafood, being part of a wonderful friendly community, having a wine with friends, going for a walk on the beach or in the bush, watching some beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and spending some quality time with the hubby.
I leave a surprise for each guest, but as it's a surprise I won't ruin it - just come and see for yourself.
The bay is a great place for family time or bringing your friends along to share the cost. Maybe take a Kayak trip up the river or in the bay - we have 3 single kayaks and 1 double kayak and some life jackets. Go fishing, bush walking, walking in the Bay of Fires - I can help you with a self guided Bay of Fires walk itinerary. Perhaps just sit on the verandah with a glass of red. Visit some of the many beaches, there are several around the bay, then the ocean beaches are within 30 minutes. Go Bike riding in the Bay of Fires Descent or the St Helens looped trail around 40 minutes from the cottage. Visit Eddystone Point, Musselroe Bay Wind farm, Mt William National Park, some of the Bay of Fires Walks, Little Blue Lake, St Columbia Falls, Mount Paris Dam, Pyengana Cheese Factory, all within an hours distance from the cottage. Do some shopping in St Helens, 40 minutes away. Travel through to Binalong Bay this is the start of the Bay of Fires and we are in the middle and Eddystone Point is at the tip.
Just so much to do whilst having the cottage as your base!
