Piece Hostel Sanjo offers private and dormitory rooms in the heart of Kyoto. The hostel was very clean, staff were exceptional, bed was comfortable, shared spaces were spacious and cozy as well. The lights that show which baths are taken are very convenient. Free Early and late luggage drop-off and storage are very convenient as well.

The staff was great, they helped us deliver the phone my father forgot in the bullet train to the hostel, which at the Lost and Found office told us is going to be very difficult for an accomodation to do. The place is very clean, showers are separated in sort of mini rooms so there is a lot of privacy. There are dyson hair dryers which was unexpected for a 2 star hostel. The beds were comfortable as well. Location is walking distance from the main station and was very practical.

Toru was very nice, helpful, and informative. I liked the nice shared common space that made a communal feeling even though you had a private room. I slept very well!

A 5-minute walk from Higashiyama Subway Station, Guest House Ga-Jyun features free Wi-Fi at the entire property. The wooden terrace has chairs overlooking the garden. We are small house with 5 rooms. Náš pobyt v tomto Guest house byl velmi klidný, personál byl moc příjemný, pes Jiro byl roztomilým parťákem a atmosféra ve společných prostorách byla skvělá. Skamarádili jsme se tu, zároveň jsou lidé velmi respektující, po jedenácté hodině je tu klid, tma a ticho, jen mírný hluk od aut z ulice, ale nic hrozného. Postele pohodlné. Snídaně byla skvělá! Děkujeme!

Guest House Gojo se nachází 15 minut chůze od chrámu Kiyomizu-dera a svatyně Yasaka. Very friendly stuff, excellent location. Nice bar with beer and sake. If you want you can have a breakfast. It's a great experience to live in a such authentic place. It's like Ninja Palace. English speaking stuff could assist me in multiple questions, starting from finding the best onsen in town and ending with calling my embassy. Locations is just amazing, right in a middle of station and sightseeing points. Lobby is absolutely magnificent, just bring your snacks and drinks and chill like an emperor. 15 min by feet from the Guest House there is cool Onsen

Shin San is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The property has everything you need for a pleasant stay and is conveniently located, with a train station and bus stop nearby. I felt very comfortable and well taken care of throughout my stay.

We spent 7 nights at this guesthouse, and it was an important part of our wonderful experience in Kyoto. The couple that runs the guesthouse became friends with us. They fed us a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and cabbage salad, which we enjoyed every morning. We had a great time talking with the wife (who can speak English conversationally) every morning, as well as the three other couples who came and went during our long stay. This guesthouse is definitely for people who enjoy the experience of meeting other travelers, want to learn about Japan from their hosts, are looking for a getaway from the big cities, and don't mind walking about 20 minutes to and 20 minutes from (uphill) the closest train station. It's not for people who want a reclusive getaway, don't like walking long distances, are looking for a normal hotel experience, or can't navigate steep stairsteps. This guesthouse allows you to live around the locals in a quiet, non-touristy neighborhood. Our twin room was very spacious compared to our budget hotel room in Tokyo, had a traditional feel to it, and was quite comfortable on hot days with the wall-mounted AC. Going to the bathroom or toilet room does involve walking a few steps out onto the balcony attached to your room, but with the house being high in the hills, it still feels reasonably private. This guest room is next to the one other guest room at this property, so you do need to be aware of noise levels. Below the guest rooms is a vacant art gallery space that serves as a large common area that's currently available to guests but may not always be if it's being used as a gallery. Attached to the gallery is a large patio with a view of Kyoto — a great place to sit in the morning or while eating dinner. If you're looking for a wonderful stay in Kyoto that's a little out of the ordinary, and you're an active traveler that wants to experience the non-touristy side of the city, this may be your place.
