Takako-san and her team were friendly, approachable and absolutely hospitable hosts; can see they’re genuine people who want their guests to have a pleasant stay, such as allowing flexibility for earlier check ins. Convenient location, accessible by tram (Chinatown station), not far to the main tourist destinations, and walkable from Nagasaki station (~15 mins). Room was clean and well-maintained overall. Washing machine and dryer are available to use at a reasonable price. Instructions for usage are clear and easy to follow. The reception / working area offers good views of Dejima and the Nakashima River. I particularly liked their self serve filtered coffee, it’s a nice unique perk that not many guest houses offer.

The host was so thoughtful in the way he arranged the house and prepared useful items for our stay in the house. From a drying rack/laundry clips, to cooking utensils and various sauces and condiments, to additional bedding, we had everything we needed.

Really beautiful house and interior. Nice to stay, really unique place, the host is really helpful and nice, gives enough privacy but also always available for help. It's more for a relaxing assisted stay rather than a hotel or rented apartment. There is a sauna and outdoor area. parking available.

The location is great and the close towns around are just a walk away. If you like walking, its your place. The serenity , quietness and peace all around are stunning. We could feel the love put into the house during its remodeling. Admiring the way to stay as close as possible to original materials and way of building it. The living room is great and wants you to stay overlooking the rice patties all day long.

The decor is impeccable—calm, cozy, and soothing—so it feels like the house itself is Manami: thoughtful and kind. Every detail has been considered: a comfortable tatami bedroom with soft, plush mattress and linens, a full kitchen, washer & dryer, and even a little mini-spa corner to unwind. There are two toilets (a rare convenience in Japan) and the location is great for exploring. Manami helped us rent e-bikes and gave us wonderful day-trip plans and cultural insights we would never have discovered on our own. Staying here felt like touching the true spirit of old Japan while enjoying modern comforts. For us, it was a dream place. If you value kindness, authenticity, and quiet beauty, book Oteragoto—you’ll feel Manami’s heart in every corner. She truly deserves all the guests who will love this place as much as we did. 10/10. Very good stay, the people (and place) were so nice. We had an amazing night with a music show and had the chance to exchange with local people, they even took pictures and print them for us, what great memories!
