The room was beyond our expectations, and absolutely beautiful and magical! The building, or cave, is a perfect restoration of a historical church, with attention to detail that preserves its ancient beauty while providing modern luxuries. The staff at Hotel in Pietra were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered great recommendations for exploring Matera. The residence is located right in the Sassi area, very easy to reach and to go round. It's very authentic, tastefully decorated and most of all comfortable. Staff were also very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this residence.

Absolutely everything!! This hotel is simply Devine. It is right in the middle of the old city. We couldn’t have been happier with our accomodation choice. We were also treated to the biggest and most delicious complimentary breakfast. I can’t recommend this accomodation enough! They also provided fantastic maps and recommendations for the city and restaurants to eat including our favourite… Kiev!!

We had an amazing stay in Matera. The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The entrance, tucked away in a small square off the main street, was right in the heart of the Sassi. Giuseppe and Tiziana were exceptional hosts, offering excellent service, including the option to store our luggage after check-out. They reached out to us beforehand with helpful information about where to park for free and advised against bringing heavy luggage due to the steps and cobblestone streets. Giuseppe also shared a wealth of knowledge about Matera's history and even gave us a brief tour of the reception 'cave' and the water tank located beneath the house.
