We had a lovely stay at the Apple Cider Lodge watching the tides moving in and out, eating farmfresh eggs for breakfast, sipping cider as a sundowner and sleeping in heavenly beds. The Lodge provided everything we needed and even more (our 2.5 yo was so happy about the toys). The surrounding offers many great spots to explore as beaches, regional parks, restaurants, shops, weekend markets and many more.

Beautiful property and what a stunning location, absolute gem and will return very soon as me and my partner loved everything about it. Clean, had everything you need and the views…. Wow ! Best of all were the hosts Vicki and Clint…. Salt of the earth people who went way above and beyond with us, they made our stay that little bit better than anywhere I’ve stayed. Friendly, welcoming and we even shared a drink together whilst chatting all things life. I’d urge anyone wanting a get away in Matakana and surrounding areas to book this place. Also they have the best little bunch of pugs and a stunning boxer that were so friendly and lovable

Our stay at Tahou Matakana was nothing short of amazing. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. One of the highlights was the guided walk around the estate, where we got to see the stunning native plants, trees, and an abundance of birds—plus their lovely, friendly dog! The variety of fruit available was impressive—peaches, apples, pears, mandarins, and more (I honestly lost count!). The accommodation itself was spotless, with a well-equipped kitchen featuring high-quality cutlery and utensils. Everything felt brand new, and we’re so glad we took the leap to stay here. If you're a nature lover, this is an absolute must-visit. The peaceful surroundings, fresh air, and thoughtful hospitality make for a truly special experience. I’m already looking forward to returning!

Location was perfect to be able to explore points of interest in the area without having to travel too far. The closeness to the local supermarket was ideal for supplies and also having the option of several restaurant nearby. The whole unit was beautifully decorated and provided quality bedroom and bathroom linen. A superb unit.

    Perfect breakfast left in our cottage that was adequate for the 3 days: artisan bread, gravlax preserves & healthy muesli & blue berries. We appreciated the absolute peace and quiet and the serene views out to see and bush. We appreciated being left alone to enjoy the private accommodation well away from the owners house. Our beach visits to Tawharanui park each afternoon a highlight.

    Loved it👌 our host’s Katherine and John were charming. it is a beautiful property. Despite the rain during most of our stay it was a very serene place to unplug and unwind in extremely peaceful surroundings. The brekkie provisions were great too!
