Great place, cool interior design - functional and modern but yet with some really nice and surprising details. Friendly and helpful staff. We were on the 15th floor with a great view, but we never had to wait long for the elevators. Beds were really comfortable and the bathroom/shower practical and of good quality. Valet parkong is no bargain. We parked at Giants parking lot A just across the street (purchased the ticket ahead online) and used Uber to get around town. We would go back anytime.

I loved every glimpse of it! It's definitely more modern than others, also, the TV was connected with the iPad (from the room) & you could stream anything easily with your phone. Very central, clean, awesome staff! & Self check-in. For American breakfast, it was very good, also healthier options!

The staff at the Ritz Carlton is excellent -- professional, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. We had breakfast at the Ritz, a late night hamburger in the "bar" area , and ordered room service -- one the best BLTs I have had. Food and service were first-rate. I also used the workout facilities which were spotless and presented many options -- treadmills, bikes, weights

The boutique hotel was lovely, clean, the continental breakfast selection was more like a "European style" --full on menu (i.e.,beverages- juices, teas, coffee, espresso, hot entree with assortment of breads, pastries, spreads, fruits, cold entrees, etc.). The food was excellent. The quality of the food and beverages were exceptional! The morning dining room staff were professional and courteous and not intrusive to guests while dining. but, if you needed to order an item from the dine in menu the staff was there to take your order and worked efficiently. The dining room was clean and setup lovely. The staff always kept the food area replenished and very clean! We also enjoyed the 24 hour availably for in room dining. My husband and I will definitely be returning soon to stay at Hotel Drisco. The 24 hour parlor room service with hot and cold beverages with light snacks was a welcome treat especially the biscotti! Nice to come back to the Hotel and relax in the parlor room with a beverage and have a snack. The selection of quality teas were very nice. All the Hotel Drisco staff from bell men, front desk, dining room and housekeeping were professional and courteous especially, Tanjay! Our room was clean and very comfortable...housekeeping staff always kept our room very clean...like the bed and bath linens too!

FAQs about hotels in San Francisco

An Icon of Liberalism

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.

Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.

In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.

Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.

As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.

Make sure you bring warm clothes even in the summer as it gets really chilly. Ate at Fog Harbor. Food was really good. Went to Oracle Park. Always a good time at the ball park. Walked through the Warf. Always good to take a Cable Car ride. Go to Alcatraz is a must. Have an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista.

Our 2nd time here, nice to stay in a different part of the city. Tried the train, tram and trolley cars as I like to ride public transport with the locals. Sadly noticed a lot more mentally affected people this time not that they bothered me, I never felt unsafe here and would definitely come again. Pretty easy to get around and we were lucky to have great weather, late August, early September.

    What a pleasant stay!

What a pleasant stay! This city is so easy to get around with the BART and MUNI systems. People are so friendly all over. Yes the Tenderloin is not the best, but we never did feel unsafe whatsoever - even in the roughest areas. Very touristy. But this is also what makes you feel a bit safer. Even asking police for directions was enjoyable - they're so friendly and funny!

This is an interesting and diverse city, big enough to offer a wide range of experiences, but not overwhelmingly large (like LA). Plenty of transport options (the ‘cable cars’ are a must try) and the BART (Bay Area Transit), are available, along with an abundance of taxi’s (including driverless cars). Alcatraz is a first class experience. We had been during the day a few years ago, but this time we took the night tour which was extremely atmospheric. Eating out can be expensive, but the variety of cuisine reflects the diversity of the city. We were not short of options at any point.

We loved walking around the area. We felt very safe. I would recommend doing some tours right away to get a sense of the city. Some tours are far better than others. We loved eating at Bourdin's. We also enjoyed the Waymo. Download the app and experience a driverless car. Ride the trolley. We toured Muir Woods and Sausalito. Chinatown was fun, look for the place in the alley that allow you to customize and see how fortune cookies are made. Dress in layers this time of year.

Very good - What previous guests thought, 12,222 reviews
The location is in a great prime spot walking distance from the Piers to Alcatraz and close to bike rentals for the trail to the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the tram to Union Square. The rooms are clean and spacious and the surrounding areas of the hotel are lovely, especially the outdoor seating area with the fire pits at the front of the hotel. Breakfast is above average and there’s options for different tastes. The waiting staff (Amanda) were very friendly and efficient at keeping tables cleaned.

Very well located hotel in the middle of downtown, very close to Union Square and Chinatown, and strategic to reach other core location of San Francisco, like Pier 33, Fisherman’s wharf (just 30 mins by walking). Rome nice.
