We have stayed in five star hotels all over Europe during our six week trip and Paul’s place was by far our favourite. If we could give it six stars we absolutely would. From the moment of booking until the moment we left, Paul’s service was impeccable. He personally arranged our transport to and from the airport, greeted us warmly at 1am in a very dapper suit and even helped carry our luggage in and out of the apartment. That level of care immediately set the tone for what turned out to be the best stay of our journey. Inside, the annex feels like a private luxury suite rather than a rental. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and filled with thoughtful touches. We arrived to find fresh pastries, croissants, danishes, two blueberry muffins, biscuits, a bottle of wine and a fully stocked selection of teas, coffees, juices and cereals. High end toiletries, fluffy towels and even a Dyson Airwrap and GHD hairdryer are provided. The huge TV was a real treat for us to unwind in front of and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We also loved the peaceful garden setting with its charming fish pond lit up at night. It felt private, serene and very special. Reading other guests’ reviews before we booked we wondered if it could really be that good. It is, and even more. Paul consistently anticipates his guests’ needs, whether that is calling ahead to ask what drinks or muffin flavours you prefer. Time and again reviewers talk about his attention to detail, generosity and genuine warmth, and now we understand why. He manages to combine the professionalism of a top hotel with the personal touches of a gracious host. We are incredibly grateful for everything Paul did to make our stay seamless, comfortable and memorable. This property offers outstanding value for money and Paul’s hospitality elevates it far beyond a simple overnight stop. We cannot recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back. Thank you Paul for creating such a wonderful experience.

Best place ever, absolutely amazing , the host is always available to help and the place is awesome, very very clean, with all commodities, quiet place, Netflix and Wi-Fi available for free, heating, a very comfortable bed, hot water, a kitchen with all you need to make a good meal, couldn’t ask for more.

    We were pleasantly surprised, Traditional high street!!

    We were pleasantly surprised, Traditional high street!! Full of shops, places to eat and drink. It's even got pie mash liquer shop!! buses, and train station within short walking distance. Easy 15 min bus ride to Stanstead from the high street, much nicer way to enjoy your trip. Looking forward to a return trip.

    A lovely town with a very good selection of shops and restaurants. Very helpful people w o offered assistance when I seemed to be struggling with my wife's wheel chair. We would like to revisit sometime when our stay would not be time constrained.

    Nice place to spend the evening prior to our holiday with a good selection of pubs and restaurants to choose from. It was nice knowing the airport is only 15 mins drive away in the morning and easy to get too.

    it is centrally located. You have to bring your own bath soap, shampoo, and hair conditioner as not enough is supplied. No fridge in the room. Very basic. On a positive note, they cleaned the room and change bedsheets every other day. This hotel is close to everything.

    The rooms were beautifully turned out and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was simple but excellent and exceptional value for money. The gardens were beautiful. I would recommend the Guest House to anyone wanting to stay in the Bishops Stortford area.

    We loved everything and would stay again.

    We loved everything and would stay again. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff were excellent, and nothing was too much trouble. The food for the party was lovely, tasty and just right. Although all the staff were wonderful, Tanya the breakfast host was always available and did everything we asked for.

    Set in a lovely village, plenty of parking spaces, easy check-in, very friendly staff, nice spacious room, comfortable bed, good shower, food was delicious, the breakfast was probably the best we have had at a hotel. The leisure facilities looked nice,but we didn't use it.
