Great town with many shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Saturday morning market was impressive. Coast line tram service runs up most of the Belgium coast (we had a day in Ostend). Although a small town, the centre is very full with shops, food stalls and restraurant. Fries, ice-cream and chocolate are all there. Although as :Belgium, I'd expect way more chocolate shops. The beach is long and not crowded. It is fitted with cabins that can be rented. There is an amusement park (and water park) which can make for a fun day out. You'd need to book it. There are not halal food places around, and the closest thing is across the French border (~20KM).

Hidden gem.
Hidden gem. Miles of soft sand, with sheltered eating/drinking restaurants on the beach. Miles of promenade, easily accessed with the hire of a bicycle or cart. Warm and friendly Manager, rooms are above the bar and breakfast area, clean and well presented. Lovely old styled Bar was well priced, and the bar quiet the night we stayed. Breakfast is pre-ordered and a full choice, served with refills of tea &coffee as required. We arrived very late but this was not a problem. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we could need for cooking including herbs and spices. Good location handy for Plopsaland, could be walked although we drove as it was raining. House was very characterful and memorable. Plenty of towels.

There are two rooms: 1 livingroom (to the street) and 1 bedroom (to the backyard), additionel a small kitchen and a bathroom (the washbasin is in the bedroom). The host (Frederik) is very friendly and reacts in very short time, if you have any question or a problem.

And I really liked how friendly the owner is. Beautiful garden with some goats and chickens (they didn't make any noise or such during our stay). Not to forget the rich breakfasts. The owner will make you omlette or boiled egg on request.
